TLV Energy was started in 2005 by Ted Vann to provide personal energy services to a select group of clients. Ted along with his operating partner Jim Poad have been providing continuing services since that time. TLV Energy has over 60 years of combined energy experience providing energy management services. Today TLV Energy manages over $50 Million in portfolio energy.

TED VANN – Founder and Operating Partner

Ted Vann began his career in the competitive energy markets in 1994 working for a company that sold natural gas to commercial and industrial customers across the northeast and midwest of the United States. And he has been in the business ever since. TLV Energy was created in 2005 to help customers better manage their energy spend.

Prior to founding TLV Energy, Ted managed various business units at TXU Energy including Supply and Offer Management. As Director of Supply Management he was responsible for the profit and loss for a supply management outsourcing service offering to large multi-site commercial and industrial customers. His group managed nearly $1 Billion in energy spend for these clients. As Director of Offer Management, Business Markets, Mr. Vann crafted solutions for TXU’s competitive electric retail business. His areas of responsibility have also included significant systems implementations and software development projects at TXU.

Mr. Vann holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Management from Texas A&M University.

JIM POAD – Operating Partner

Jim is a 40 plus year energy industry veteran. He has provided services to multiple customers assisting them with energy procurement and project management services.

Poad has also held a Vice President of Sales and Client Management for expense and energy management firm, Ecova, Inc. Poad retired from Ecova in 2014. In this capacity, Mr. Poad is responsible for organic growth, client satisfaction, developing and directing the Company’s resource management programs on behalf of clients. He manages a team of professional sales and client managers who develop and implement a customized strategy to better manage resource usage, reduce overall operational costs, and meet overriding client corporate objectives. He brings to the Company 40 years of experience with regulated and unregulated energy services.

Prior to that, Poad was Director, Business Solutions and Vice President of Sales positions at Ecova and also worked for Energy Services companies, Johnson Controls, Inc., Prenova, and TXU Energy, Poad held positions was Director, Business Development, and JCI, and Prenova. At TXU, he first served as Regional Marketing Director for the Chicago region. In this role he was responsible for project evaluation, commodity sales and delivery for both electric power and natural gas, as well as facility sales. Later, he was appointed Director of Strategic Business Development, a role which required identifying and developing comprehensive energy management and outsourcing engagements for Fortune 500 companies with extensive energy requirements.

Earlier, Poad held a number of positions with Wisconsin Power and Light Company and Alliant Energy. He worked in operations, administration, and sales management with these companies, and received several awards for operational excellence, marketing success and exceptional safety records. Poad has also been very active in community development activities, serving on Economic Development Boards, United Ways, and Chambers of Commerce. He was also elected as Mayor of a small community in Southwest Wisconsin. His hobbies include Golf and spending time with his family.
